There is a symbiotic relationship between the intuitive and analytic in my approach to image making. My work is inspired and informed by the systems of science and mathematics and how those systems describe natural phenomena. Through my work, I pursue the juxtapositions of the following assumed dichotomies: stillness and motion, matter and energy, experience and information, and their synergy in space and time. The generative process of creating aims to mimic the growth and evolution of natural forms. These concepts and ideas serve as a framework and a jumping-off point for my studio, a way of dreaming and visualizing in dialogue with these ready-made systems. I consider these systems to be a trellis to engage the spiritual and emotional dimensions of being. My practice strives to remain open, continually incorporating new information. It is a space where the freedom to search, question, and push into new territory is of the utmost importance.
